What is a Hydroponic Kit ?
A Hydroponic Kit is a self-contained growing method which grows plants using water, enriched with nutrients, rather than using soil. Typically, hydroponic systems require water, nutrient solution, inert growing medium (a growing medium that does not contribute nutrients but supports the plant), and a system to ensure the nutrient reach water can reach the roots.
How To Use Bottle Botanics

Step One
Hydrate the Coconut Coir Tab by placing it, dimple-side up in a bowl of water. Let it soak for 6-8 minutes while you prepare the rest of the set up.

Step Two
Fill the upcycled Wine Bottle Base with 400ml of water and add half of the plant food from one of your bottles.

Step Three
Take your black Wicking Material and push through the neck of the upcycled Wine Bottle Top. Leave approx 3cm of the wicking material poking out of the neck.

Step Four
Sit your rehydrated Coir Tab on top of the Wicking Material with the dimple side facing upwards. Cut the white material away from the sides at the top of the tab.

Step Five
Fill the sides of the cut glass bottle top with clay pebbles. Be careful not to cover the top of the Coir Tab with any pebbles.

Step Six
You are now ready to plant your seeds! Sprinkle half of the seed pack onto the hydrated coir tab and keep the other half for your next grow. Try not to overcrowd the seeds in the middle, but spread them evenly over the top of the tab.

Step Seven
To help germination, slot the lid of the grow casing over the bottom and leave for 4-5 days.

Step Eight
Soon you'll have beautiful, fresh herbs ready to be picked and added to your culinary creation. Enjoy!
How do Bottle Botanics work?
The Setup - The wine bottle is cut in half. The bottom half holds a nutrient-enriched water solution, while the top half (turned upside down) becomes the growing chamber.
The Wicking System - Inside the top half, clay pebbles (inert growing medium) provide structure and airflow. A wicking strip runs from the pebbles down into the water below, gently drawing moisture upwards.
The Growing Medium - On top of the clay pebbles sits a coir tab, this is where your seeds are planted. The wicking strip keeps the coir tab moist, ensuring your seeds have a steady water supply.
Germination - After sowing your seeds, pop on the lid to create a mini greenhouse effect. This helps lock in warmth and humidity for faster germination.
Sunshine & Growth - Once your seeds begin to sprout, remove the lid and place your Bottle Botanics kit somewhere bright, a kitchen windowsill works perfectly. From here, your herbs will continue to grow with minimal effort, thanks to the clever self-watering design.
