Description
CVG Substrate – Premium Coco Coir, Vermiculite & Gypsum Mix
Our CVG substrate is a balanced blend of coco coir, vermiculite, and gypsum—ideal for growing a wide range of gourmet and therapeutic mushroom species. Sterilised and ready to use, this bulk substrate provides excellent moisture retention, aeration, and nutritional support for healthy, vigorous mycelial growth.
Looking for an extra boost? Choose CVG+, our enhanced formula with added soya hulls to increase nitrogen content and promote faster, more robust colonisation - especially effective for species like King Oyster.
Both options are produced in-house and packed fresh in the UK as part of the Urban Farm-It sterile range.
Storage Information
Store in a cool dry place (not the fridge) and use within 2 months.

Our Sterile Range is made to order so please allow up to 4 business days for your order to processed and shipped.
We are able to ship to Northern Ireland, the Scottish Islands, the Scottish Highlands, the Isle of Wight, and the Channel Islands. However, these shipments are arranged on a case-by-case basis to ensure the best possible service.

- Small Orders (E.g. 100ml Spawn, Plugs): Sent via Royal Mail large letters.
- Medium-Sized Orders (under 2kg): Royal Mail 24-48 hour tracked parcel.
- Large Orders (2kg+): via DPD Express or APC.
Returns
- Due to the perishable nature of these products, we are unable to accept returns.
- If your bundle arrives damaged, defective, or not as described, please contact us at hello@urban-farm-it.com within 24 hours of receiving the item. You will be eligible for a replacement or refund if we are notified within this timeframe, along with supporting documentation such as photos of the item and packaging.
- Refunds or replacements will not be issued for reports received beyond the 24-hour window, as the quality of perishable items can degrade rapidly.

CVG vs CVG+
We offer two substrate options with this bundle – click the images below to learn more about each one.
CVG
The go-to bulk substrate for many mushroom cultivators thanks to its simplicity, effectiveness, and low contamination risk. The coco coir provides structure and moisture retention, vermiculite adds aeration and further water-holding capacity, and gypsum offers trace minerals and helps balance pH. CVG is nutritionally poor by design, making it a great choice for growers who want to reduce the risk of contamination while allowing the mycelium to fully colonise before fruiting.
CVG+
CVG+ takes the standard CVG base and boosts it with soya hulls – a rich, nitrogen-dense supplement. This added nutrition can lead to more aggressive growth and potentially higher yields, particularly when working with gourmet species that benefit from a more nutrient-rich environment. It’s a great choice for experienced growers looking to maximise performance, or for those using a BoomerShroomer with sterile grain and clean inoculation methods.
