Enjoyable Process

Thoroughly enjoyed the process and all the preparation required. Makes it more rewarding when they're ready when you've put a bit of work in. Forst flush after about 4 weeks. Looking forward to starting a other kit and trying some other types.

Disappointing

I followed the instructions and kept the kit within the optimal conditions for both incubation and fruiting period. It was looking good when they first started to appear, however not all of the holes in the bag were producing mushrooms, and the ones that were never really got to a decent size before they started to unfurl. I harvested what was produced over about 3 flushes, which amounted to only about 300 grams. Perhaps the spawn was not evenly mixed throughout the bag, but I tried my best which very hard to achieve this whilst putting your arms into a deep bag full of wet straw. I would suggest this is possibly a flaw in the design of the kit. I did enjoy the process of watching the mushrooms appear and grow, and they were extremely tasty I would add. If however if I asked myself was it worth the kit cost of £25, and almost 3 months the whole process has taken for 300 grams of mushrooms, I would have to say no. In my opinion for, a cardboard box, couple of bags, some straw and some spawn, the kit should be much cheaper, to make the time it takes worth the small amount of mushrooms. I also wonder whether the design of the kit could be improved to more reliably ensure a good yield.

Regarding the uneven growth you experienced, you are absolutely right—if the spawn isn't mixed evenly throughout the substrate, it can lead to inconsistent mycelial development, however the fungus does not need to fruit out of every cross cut in the bag . We understand that thoroughly mixing the spawn into the straw can be a bit challenging, especially in the deeper parts of the bag. We'll certainly take your comments into consideration as we continuously look for ways to improve the design and user experience of our kits.

Our grow kits are designed to give customers the full hands-on experience of mushroom cultivation, from preparation to harvest. We realize this process might not suit everyone, and for those looking for a quicker, more straightforward option, a 'spray and grow' style kit might indeed be a better fit.

Perfect!

Three weeks in an airing cupboard followed by a week in the light. Harvested 350gms of blue-grey oyster mushrooms today.
The instructions are good and spawn delivery was timely.
I've tried to grow mushrooms in the past without any success. Maybe fresh spawn is key. Thanks for a lot of fun

First time growing oyster mushrooms

My son bought this mushroom kit for me for Christmas. Never grown oyster mushroom before. Had redeem voucher option, did have a slight problem with that, but was sorted by friendly staff. I'm so pleased they are growing, it's like being a 'mum' to them, nurturing and caring. Lol.
The only thing now, is when to harvest? Have watched the video, but still unsure. They seem to double in size over night, just love it.
Brilliant kit.
