Why Choose?
Opting for fresh Lion’s Mane offers a unique experience for culinary applications where immediate cooking convenience is key. Fresh Lion’s Mane delivers a juicy, meaty bite and subtle flavour that’s perfect for dishes where its natural texture and appearance are the star of the show. Whether used to create flavourful, plant-based dishes or potent wellness extracts, fresh Lion’s Mane provides a versatile, nutrient-rich option to enjoy the mushroom’s full range of potential benefits.
Flavour Profile
Lion’s Mane mushrooms have a delicate, slightly sweet flavour, with the earthiness common in mushrooms. Their soft, tender texture makes them a popular choice for plant-based dishes due to their satisfying bite. When cooked properly, they take on a meaty, juicy consistency, absorbing flavours beautifully in sautés, stir-fries, and soups.

FAQs

What is dried Lion's Mane good for?
Dried Lion's Mane is great for cooking and keeping on hand as a long-lasting ingredient. It holds onto its nutrients and develops a more concentrated flavour compared to fresh. It’s often used in soups, stews, stir-fries, or sauces to add depth and a meaty texture.
How do you use dried Lion's Mane?
To use dried Lion's Mane, soak it in warm water for 15–20 minutes until soft, then cook as you would fresh Lion’s Mane. The soaking liquid is rich in flavour and can be added to stocks, soups, or sauces to make sure nothing goes to waste.
Can you eat dried Lion's Mane?
Yes, you can eat dried Lion’s Mane. It should be rehydrated first if you plan to cook with it, after which it can be used just like fresh Lion’s Mane – sautéed, roasted, or simmered in broths. Dried Lion’s Mane can also be ground into a powder to add to coffee, sprinkled over granola, or used to make tinctures.
Do I have to rehydrate dried Lion's Mane?
Rehydrating dried Lion’s Mane is recommended if you want to cook with it, as this restores its texture to that of fresh Lion’s Mane and makes it suitable for sautéing, roasting, or simmering. Without rehydration, it can be tough and chewy. However, dried Lion’s Mane can also be ground into a powder and used directly in coffees, sprinkled on granola, or made into tinctures. In these cases, rehydration isn’t necessary.
What's the easiest way to eat dried Lion's Mane?
The easiest way to eat dried Lion’s Mane is to soak it, slice it, and add it straight into soups, pasta sauces, or stir-fries. It will continue rehydrating while cooking and take on the flavours of your dish.
