Lead Times
Our mushroom spawn products are crafted with expertise in Belgium by our esteemed partner, Mycelia. We maintain a robust stock of popular species. However, for some species or larger orders, products may need to be ordered in or prepared to order.
Our lead times vary depending on the product and current stock levels. Please note, these are approximate times and can vary depending on specific circumstances. For any urgent requirements, please contact us directly to discuss options.
By default, if your order includes multiple items with varying lead times, the entire order will be dispatched according to the longest lead time. This ensures your products arrive together in one shipment.
Lead times can be found on every wholesale spawn product page.
Delivery & Returns
Delivery
We are able to ship to Northern Ireland, the Scottish Islands, the Scottish Highlands, the Isle of Wight, and the Channel Islands. However, these shipments are arranged on a case-by-case basis to ensure the best possible service.
If you are located in one of these areas, please contact us directly at hello@urban-farm-it.com to place your order.
Note: Please refer to the specific lead times shown on product pages for more accurate delivery times.
- Small Orders (E.g. 100ml Spawn, Plugs): Sent via Royal Mail large letters.
- Medium-Sized Orders (under 2kg): Royal Mail 24-48 hour tracked parcel.
- Large Orders (2kg+): via DPD Express or APC.
This does not apply to our Gift E-Cards, which are delivered via email.
If you'd like your parcel left in a safe place, this needs to be arranged directly through the courier's website or delivery notification.
To enable this function you must leave a valid email address. Once your order is on its way, you should receive a notification from the courier with a link to manage your delivery. Simply follow that link to choose a safe place or make any other delivery preferences.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to set a safe place on your behalf.
Returns
Due to the perishable nature of spawn we are unable to accept cancellations of orders or returns of product.
- If your mushroom spawn arrives damaged, defective, or not as described, please contact us at hello@urban-farm-it.com within 24 hours of receiving the item. You will be eligible for a replacement or refund if we are notified within this timeframe, along with supporting documentation such as photos of the item and packaging.
- Refunds or replacements will not be issued for reports received beyond the 24-hour window, as the quality of perishable items can degrade rapidly.
See our returns policy here.
FAQs
Please read our FAQs page to find out more.
What types of mushroom spawn are available wholesale?
We supply a wide range of high-quality wholesale mushroom spawn, including 65 different species. Popular favourites include oyster, shiitake, lion’s mane, king oyster, and wine cap. We offer both grain spawn for bulk cultivation and plug spawn/dowels for log inoculation, catering to commercial growers, retailers, and hobbyists alike.
Are our mushroom spawn products always in stock?
As the sole distributors of Mycelia spawn in the UK, availability depends on the strain. Niche or rare strains may have longer lead times, while most of our popular strains are available within 10 days. To learn more about our lead times, click here.
How do we ensure the quality of our mushroom spawn?
All spawn is carefully handled to maintain high viability and low contamination risk. We use specialist storage environments and have a team of experts experienced with cultivating and handling spawn, ensuring consistent performance and reliability for wholesale growers.
What are the best mushrooms to sell for profit?
Oyster mushrooms are usually the most profitable when resold. They grow quickly, don’t need fancy equipment, and there’s always demand from restaurants, markets, and home cooks. Shiitake and Lion's Mane can also do well if you’re aiming at the gourmet end of the market, but Oyster mushrooms are the easiest way to get started.
What is the ratio of spawn to bulk for mushrooms?
A common ratio is about 1 part spawn to 4 parts substrate. That’s enough to give the mycelium a strong start without using more spawn than you need. Some growers go heavier to speed things up and reduce the risk of contamination, but 1:4 is a good balance for most setups.
Why buy wholesale mushroom spawn?
Buying wholesale mushroom spawn makes sense if you’re producing at scale. It helps keep costs down, ensures a reliable supply of high-quality spawn, and allows you to plan your grows with confidence.
At Urban Farm-It, our wholesale spawn is lab-grown and rigorously tested, so you’re starting with strong, healthy mycelium. We source our spawn exclusively from Mycelia, and as the sole UK distributors, we can offer access to their exceptional quality and expertise. Our wholesale service comes with short lead times, custom ordering options, rare and niche strains, and volume discounts, making it easy and cost-effective to scale your mushroom production.
What's the easiest mushroom to grow?
Oyster mushrooms are one of the easiest to grow. They’re fast, colonise a wide range of substrates, and bounce back with multiple flushes. If you’re looking for straightforward results, start with Oyster mushrooms.
